a conversation between a 15 year old child and her greatgrandmother

child: greatgrandma, i'll be going over to singapore to study

greatgrandmother: what? singapore? but that's very far! when?

child: yea i know... soon like in around 2 weeks' time... i got a scholarship to study over
there..and daddy and uncle think its a good opportunity for me. i'm gonna miss you really..

greatgrandmother: i'm goin to miss you too! how often will you come home then? when will i get
to see you again?

child: i promise.. i'll come back as often as i can.. during the hols.. to keep you company..then i
can teach you sing that english song again

greatgrandmother: i dont wish for you to go that far to study at such a young age but i know
your future is very important to you... and hence to me. just promise me
one thing, never dishonour your parents.. and take good care of them when
they're old next time..

child: i promise i will.

greatgrandmother: of course i will send allowance to you each month. although it'll not be much,
i want to share the burden and responsibility as well.

child: really no need to do that..

greatgrandmother: will you write to me and tell me how you're doing there? i'll ask your aunt
to read out to me and reply each of your letter..

child: of course i will... i promise i will write to you at least once a month. greatgrandma, will you
take a photo with me? i want to bring it over to singapore and keep it by my side.

greatgrandmother: a photo?? but i can't even see..

child: its ok! just smile for me.


and a photo of the child and her greatgrandmother was taken.

she was so looking forward to receive the first letter from her dearest greatgrandmother.
Being in a foreign country, it will definitely bring comfort to her mind and heart.

alas, it never came.

her dearest greatgrandmother passed away on the second week after she left home.
and till now she still regrets for leaving too early

sketch sketch**

this week is really hectic for archi students.
i looked around me during tutorials and lectures (that i attended)
and i realised i was surrounded by zombies!
lifeless people falling asleep
anywhere
everywhere

anyway today was the submission date for our urban planning assignment
and the lecturer specifically stated that archi students are NOT ALLOWED to use photos in our analysis.
which means..
we had to sketch.. sketch.. and sketch every little thing

i started sketching since a few days ago
and i almost died.
anyway, these are my favourites among the lot =)

just like any other
without the desire for tomorrow
nor the reflection of yesterday

good weekend

overall, i would say this is a pretty good weekend.
went to jb (haha, yes jb) with mandy and wooimin..
got myself :

a new haircut (as planned)
a new green tube from mango (unplanned)
a new pair of white heels (unplanned)
a new black ring to replace the one i broke last year (an unexpected surprise)
a new jade(fake) necklace (an unexpected surprise)

well, of course mandy and wooimin bought much much more..
cos i'm broke remember haha
hmmm..
i should start doing my shopping in jb more often

there's one thing remains unfulfilled tho:
a nice black skirt (still searching)

one day sketch

on monday (27th) we had our one day sketch.
we were supposed to design a lamp based on the NUS centennial symphony.
so at ARD 11 am.. we gathered at one of the lecture rooms to listen to the bloody symphony
again and again

and again

explained by the composer himself
he gave us a set of scores with a lot of annotations and arrows
and i guess he assumed that all of us should be able to understand them
when all i could understand from the scores was....

ok, nothing.

so based on the materials we had (pvc sheet, nylon strings, staplers, glue, butter paper)
we were supposed to produce a lamp by 6pm on the day itself.
and i did mine
and this was the result
