and i thank everyone who remembered and took the trouble to wish me in any way
really,
those who are far away
those who are near
and those who are close at heart
you guys made it a happy day for me :)
and also i realised,
i should stop treating things like they never changed
because its just so pathetic

another submission over
as much as i hate group work, i must admit that without the group this time, this project will not be possible. it will drive a person insane if she or he had to do this alone. to be honest... or rather shameless.. i have to say that i'm really proud of this model and for that i give credits to my fellow groupmates: austen, chun yan and petrina who worked really hard throughout the whole 5 weeks.
anyway, just some descriptions of the project (regardless whether you're interested haha)
the project brief was to design a retreat for the urbanites and the site given was this dead ulu place near shenton way.. so we went to the site for a couple of times and had intense (ok maybe not) discussions over and over again and we finally decided to design a teahouse at the canopy level, borrowing the idea of a tree house. i guess the reason why we decided to do that project was because the trees on site were pretty inspiring (at least to me). They have roots growing from the branches all the way down to the ground, creating this amazingly dramatic effect; hence the name weeping willow
and because of the roots we decided that we wanted something made of strong horizontal planes looking as though they're floating or supported by the roots themselves, meaning we had to 'hide' the vertical supports as much as we could. hence we came up with this concept/parti sketch
the walkway towards the units
our little lift

view from the inside
circulation bridges
the whole thing (roof of bottom part yet to be completed haha)

and we finally came up with this...
presenting to you, 'the tea walk'

the walkway towards the units
our little lift

circulation bridges
the whole thing (roof of bottom part yet to be completed haha)last and definitely not least, this is my favourite drawing of the project.. (maybe because i took the longest time doing it haha)

A little traditional, and a little bit punk rock. A unique woman like you needs a city that offers everything. No wonder you and London will get along so well. |
