today, the year 3 architecture students had an 'excursion' to the dragon kiln to learn and do some hands-on on pottery. I tried and it was pretty fun.. not as easy as it seemed apparently..
anyway, below is a picture of the kiln, where the clay pots are burned and dried.. wood pieces are fed into the fire through the holes to maintain the high temperature required.

the interior of the kiln, which was pretty tight and warm

and i saw this.. you know sometimes when you take a photo, its so beautiful that it doesnt need any photoshopping? i think i've finally manage to capture one..

some demonstration on the proper techniques

the second visit was to the organic farm called 'the bollywood farm' apparently it got its name from its owner.. who has traces of Indian blood in her.. anyway i was more interested in the unplanned growth instead

fungi in different colours

a short stop at the pond within the farm

encounter with the breadfruit tree. so that's where we got our bread!
